Recent research from China comparing three groups of 231 men found that acupuncture plus herbal medicine was 84.6% more effective than either modality alone (p<0.05).

All treatment groups received improvement in sperm count, motility and activity of the acrosome enzyme, but the biggest improvement was in the acupuncture plus herbal medicine treatment group.

This research supports the notion that men seeking treatment for low sperm count and/or low motility in order to improve fertility (male factor infertility) should consider having both acupuncture and herbal medicine treatments together.
